We have had a wonderful family day, today; lunch at a super restaurant in Worcester - we were there for three hours, and the girls were impeccably behaved. The food was sensational, right down to the home baked tomato and basil bread rolls. F and A ate like princesses - F had smoked salmon to start, followed by chicken breast on a warm salad, and A had a white onion, parsnip and bacon soup to start, also followed by the chicken. The puddings were works of art; I photographed mine (see below) - it was fantastic! My main course of monkfish and tiger prawn kebabs with curry mayonnaise was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. After our leisurely meal, we went back to mum and dad's so that mum could open her presents. In addition to the beautiful jewellery Jaq made, and the apron I made (!!), I had managed to get a copy of the magazine 'The Picturegoer' from the week mum was born, which had a photo of a very handsome young Laurence Olivier on the front cover, and some hilarious adverts inside, including the classic "Have a Capstan!" (and smoke yourself into an early grave...), and a book written by Aneurin Bevan in 1943 - he and mum (and I) are from the same ex-mining town in South Wales, and I'd wanted to get something connected with her birthplace and the town in which she grew up. Mum absolutely loves the jewellery set - she was thrilled to bits. And my cake actually tasted pretty yummy. So, here are a few photographs from today.

Love you, mum - it was so lovely to be able to spend today with you. Siani, we all missed you - we'll have to do it again when you're home from Oz in December.
